Back to our Roots

Churches Together in Shirley and District Praying for One Another January 2018

Over the next few weeks, six CTiS churches will be taking part in this event. It is our participation in the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which is officially happening between Jan 18-25.  The churches involved are: Shirley Baptist Church, New Community Church, St Mark’s Church, St James by the Park, God’s Mercy Revival Ministries and the Salvation Army.  Over the next few weeks someone each of these churches will go to another church to pray for God’s blessing on them.  We hope it will be a great opportunity for encouragement and development of our relationships.  Even if your church is not part of this scheme, let’s all be taking the opportunity of the Week of Prayer to be praying for one another.

24-7 House of Prayer for Southampton – Introductory event Feb 7th 2018

Southampton Street Pastors need your help.  The next round of training starts on Friday evening Feb 23rd.  They are looking for volunteers to pray or to go out on patrol at night time, at schools in the day and in the community during the evening.  If someone is looking for a spiritual and practical outworking of their Christian faith then street pastoring might be the answer.  For more details please contact office@southamptonstreetpastors.org or 02380333387.

The Church in Shirley and Freemantle serving the community

CTiS churches are involved in a variety of activities that reflect our mission, which is to be a community of people, who follow Christ, worshipping God, studying the Bible, making disciples and demonstrating his love to everyone in the community in practical ways.

A document with a list of these activities can be downloaded here.

We cover all age groups from toddlers to the elderly.  We hope you will enjoy browsing through the list and maybe find something that you would like to come along to.  Please feel very welcome to contact the people named on the list entry for more information.  Alternatively find out more by visiting the relevant website.  Please note that hard copies of the list in booklet form are available via the CTiS secretary.

Whilst great care has been taken in producing this list, if you come across a mistake, or the details for any activity change, please email the change to the CTiS secretary as soon as possible. Similarly, please provide us with details of new activities and those that come to an end.  The list on the website will be continuously updated and a new print run will be done at intervals.

New Song Café

St James Road Methodist Church

St James Road Southampton SO15 5HE

Second Sunday of each month 7 pm – 9 pm

New Song Cafe meets monthly, on the second Sunday of each month at 7.00 pm in the evening. It is where we gather to get to know songs, and one another, in an atmosphere of friendship and worship. If you are new to church, perhaps dipping your toe in the water, it’s a great place to explore, chat and make friends.

Tea, coffee and cake are served upon arrival. The first half starts with up to 6 songs then a break for more coffee and cake then a few more songs. Of these songs a couple will be “new" and we will revisit the “new” songs from the previous month. The evening is Interspersed with video, prayer, an opportunity to share, or perhaps a brief thought for the day. Each month the songs we propose to sing are published on our Facebook page and, where available, YouTube links accompany them. This gives those attending a chance to listen first. The evening starts at 7pm and finishes by 9pm.
