The Church in Shirley and Freemantle serving the community

CTiS churches are involved in a variety of activities that reflect our mission, which is to be a community of people, who follow Christ, worshipping God, studying the Bible, making disciples and demonstrating his love to everyone in the community in practical ways.

A document with a list of these activities can be downloaded here.

We cover all age groups from toddlers to the elderly.  We hope you will enjoy browsing through the list and maybe find something that you would like to come along to.  Please feel very welcome to contact the people named on the list entry for more information.  Alternatively find out more by visiting the relevant website.  Please note that hard copies of the list in booklet form are available via the CTiS secretary.

Whilst great care has been taken in producing this list, if you come across a mistake, or the details for any activity change, please email the change to the CTiS secretary as soon as possible. Similarly, please provide us with details of new activities and those that come to an end.  The list on the website will be continuously updated and a new print run will be done at intervals.

  •   Are you interested in discovering more about a Greener way to live?

  •   Would you like to participate in learning more about Green issues?

A small group within Avenue St Andrew's URC embarked on an eight-module Green Living course last year.

We  listened and learned, shared and discussed a different module each fortnight during our one-hour Zoom sessions.

By supporting one another, each of us was inspired to be able to make changes in our lifestyles which not only

lightened our carbon footprints but also saved us money!

We are inviting you to a re-run of this course, so that you too can engage more with this vital subject together with

Please speak with any of the original course members – Bernie and Gwen Collins, Heather Dibb,

Christiane Grashof-Charlton, Sarah Hall, Mark Hancock or Pam Humphreys - if you'd like to find out more.

New Song Café

St James Road Methodist Church

St James Road Southampton SO15 5HE

Second Sunday of each month 7 pm – 9 pm

New Song Cafe meets monthly, on the second Sunday of each month at 7.00 pm in the evening. It is where we gather to get to know songs, and one another, in an atmosphere of friendship and worship. If you are new to church, perhaps dipping your toe in the water, it’s a great place to explore, chat and make friends.

Tea, coffee and cake are served upon arrival. The first half starts with up to 6 songs then a break for more coffee and cake then a few more songs. Of these songs a couple will be “new" and we will revisit the “new” songs from the previous month. The evening is Interspersed with video, prayer, an opportunity to share, or perhaps a brief thought for the day. Each month the songs we propose to sing are published on our Facebook page and, where available, YouTube links accompany them. This gives those attending a chance to listen first. The evening starts at 7pm and finishes by 9pm.
