SCRATCH provides services, which relieve the effects of hardship, disadvantage and poverty for individuals and families living in Southampton and the surrounding area.
They run a number of different projects:
DORCAS Project provides good quality furniture and household items
CHRISTMAS COMPLETE provides toys and gifts for youngsters who might go without
COMMUNITY RE-PAINT redistributes donated paint
CRUMBS/FARESHARE tackling food poverty and food waste
For more details see the SCRATCH website www.scratchcharity.co.uk
How you can help
SCRATCH relies on volunteers and donations to deliver its services, so please help us if you can. We are also always in need for furniture for the Dorcas Project.
They are particularly short of furniture at the moment, which means deliveries to their disadvantaged and often vulnerable clients may have to be delayed. If you feel you can help with this click here to see how to donate.

For those who’d like to learn more about praying
The desire to reach out to God is basic to many, many people. Trypraying is a resource for people like that: no church connection or interest, but open to find out about God. The trypraying booklet is a 7-day prayer guide and is now being used by many to pass on to friends and family with a few words of encouragement – ‘Why don’t you try praying for a week and see what happens in your life?’
For more details and to order a booklet go to the website here.
For those who already pray
Why not get hold a trypraying booklet and give it to a friend you think might benefit from it?
Why not try praying for all the great things that are going on in the churches in Shirley. Let’s demonstrate our love for each other by praying for each other’s churches. A guide to help you pray can be downloaded here.
