Our regular church services

St James by the Park


9.00 am at St. James by the Park. This is a reflective service lasting about an hour. There is preaching from the Bible, some organ-led hymns, and space for prayer and reflection.  This usually includes communion on the 2nd and 4th (and 5th) Sundays of the month.  Refreshments are available after the service.


10.30 am at St. James by the Park. A relaxed informal meeting for all ages with music led by a band.  Crèche and children’s groups for 0-11 years.  This happens weekly with the exception of the second Sunday of the month in term time when Superstars is held at Wordsworth School at 10 am.


Superstars – Monthly event for families and primary school aged children at Wordsworth School, Victor Street, Shirley. 10.00 am – 12.00 am on second Sunday in term time.  Breakfast is served and there are games, crafts, Bible stories and newspapers.


Ignite :1st, and 3rd Sunday mornings during term-time for years 6-8, looking at the Bible and what it means for our lives, with games and food. We meet in th Parish Hall during the 10:30 service.


Elevate: 1st Sunday evening of the month during term-time from 6:30pm for everyone! It is led by our young people. the time is spent worshipping God, looking at the Bibe and responding to God's word.


On the 3rd Sunday of the moth we send time developing this service with years 9-13. We meet from 7-9pm.


Sunday at 3: A ‘Songs of Praise’ service at St James Church on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 3.00 pm. The service is followed by tea and cakes and a time to chat together.  Lifts can be arranged.
